How is your approach?

I work from the Integrative therapy based mainly on the approach of Contextual therapies such as ACT and Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques. I also integrate the problem-solving approach of the Coaching method for an effective management of problems. The counseling process is developed through individual sessions, online or onsite. The idea is to work together as a team to build the kind of life you want to live, to gain a deeper self-knowledge and to learn new skills to cope with distress.

How does a session look like?

I like my clients to feel that counseling is their safe and personal space to open up and explore themselves. Just as I am the one who offers the questions, support and professional guidance, you are the one who decides what and to what extent to talk about from session to session. Frequently the topics are related to your consultation reason. We explore the situation, your current patterns of behavior, feelings, thoughts and ways of relating to others, as well as their roots and ways to improve your present according to the sort of life you want to pursue. The sessions develop in a relaxed, non-judgmental and supportive space with experiential, cognitive, behavioral or emotional exercises in and sometimes between sessions (e.g., journaling, interoceptive exposition & thought defusion).

Duration

The duration of a counseling process varies from person to person. It depends a lot on how you want to use this space and what you are seeking here, but it is always agreed with you and you always have the freedom to interrupt the process whenever you want. Usually, we set weekly sessions and each one lasts 50-60 minutes, but this can change depending on your possibilities or preferences.

What do you ask me? Should I talk about my childhood?

The method I follow focuses mainly on the present and is oriented towards the future: what is your current concern and how do you want to live your life from now on. However, we explore your past, as this allows us to better understand the roots of problems and your learned patterns (or your programming). It can also help you better understand yourself and your inner experiences as we work together in exploring ways to better manage them and develop a fulfilling life. That said, it is important for you to know that you are not obligated to talk about anything you don't want to, so you are always free to say no to something I ask you or propose to explore.

What should I expect?

My purpose is to try to help you live a worthy and satisfying life, accepting what we cannot change and committing with what we want for our being by developing self-knowledge, connection and kindness with you. For my part, I commit to give my best to support you in exploring new ways of fully living.

What is the difference with the Psychotherapy?

The main difference is about the intervention areas. Psychotherapist treat mental illnesses or any kind of pathological alteration. You can find the German Psychotherapy law here: https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/psychthg/BJNR131110998.html.
